I posted this in "Other Bikes" because they don't make these for our bikes.

I saw this exhaust system in the JC Whitney catalog. Sounds like there's a handlebar-mounted switch that controls the baffle system in the pipes. You could go from straight pipes to quiet pipes on-the-fly. Just curious, but do you think this system would actually work? And, how would a person set up a bike for this? I don't know anything about fuel injection...would that make it easier or more difficult to make something like this work (so the bike's not too rich/lean)?

I've been thinking about these, myself. There used to be an exhaust endcap called a Snuff-r-Not that did the same thing. I think if you jetted it for the open setting, the quiet one would work good enough. It wouldn't have to be perfect. Too expensive, though.

I think all the bikes that they list them being made for are fuel injected. If you had a power commander you would be able to change your mapping right as you switched your breathing.

and I don't think you're meant to ride hundreds of miles at a clip with it engaged...just for a minute here and there when you want to be quiet.

With so many places focusing on bike noise, this kind of system might become more popular with fuel injected bikes (especially if it's that easy to switch from loud to quiet). This just seemed like a gimmick when I saw it.
