Got the bike smacked and the short of it is that the insurance company called it a write off.... went out to the dealer on Saturday to get my bags off of it and a few other parts with the intention of replacing them with stock bits. Man gotta tell you, I couldn't do it. It's banged up for sure but hardly what I considered totalled. Decided to do a bit of negotiating and I agreed to taking less, not too much less so I did alright, and keeping my bike. Now I have the fun part of sourcing parts... been pricing out "custom" parts from the catalogs and can do way better price wise than Triumph parts for sure...
Anyway, one item desperately needed is a rear fender, Triumph thinks theirs is worth a little over five hundred bucks but I would prefer the one in the pic. Any ideas folks? That pic was originally posted by Brent so I pm'd him but he didn't know where it came from, thinking it is probably and HD fender... look familiar to anyone? I have seen similiar looking fenders in the catalog but since I won't get my bike back for a couple of weeks I can't even measure the width on the thing.
I managed to score a gas tank for a couple of hundred bucks versus the over seven hundred Triumph wants, that's good.... it's got a couple of scratches but at least it's not smashed. I am going to end up having to repaint the tank anyway so why not do a fender as well.
Let's see, since I am rambling, I would like to put a set of mini apes (12") on it, anyone got a recommendation as to what size cables and brake lines I need?
I am sure I will come up with a bunch more questions once the rebuild begins... I am just hoping to have it back on the road before frost warnings.
