Well, I got curious about your question SpeedyKiwi. If you zip out 3rd to 7k and snap it to 4th you can red line 4th at around 118MPH on the Triumphometer so its probably about 110MPH then when you hit 5th it pulls very hard like 3rd to 4th would feel. It pulls very well in 5th then the test driver decides to keep his license so he lets off at 6800 RPMs.

It is unlikely the bike has enough HP to pull to red line with that much wind resistance in 5th gear at 135ish. I won't find out, I suffered from outtacourageitis past 120 on the Triumphometer.

Personally I don't think its over geared with a 19t. I would rather have big roll on speed than hole shot, but then again I drive mostly straight lines. If I lived in the mountains like Salmaglie and some others I would drop it down.

Then again the 19t kept up pretty good in Arizona at the Triumph fest.
