I also have a bad back. The only thing I don't like about my America is the forward foot controls. Not being able able to stand on pegs kills my lower back. I moved my passenger pegs to exhaust hanger hole and it helped quite a lot. Still not great, though. Recently installed a set of mid-pegs. Those things make quite a difference, even though our seats are too low for them with my 34" inseam.
