Bloody hell Kevin!! That sounds OK to me! I'd say pretty much every speedo on the road is a little out - some more than others I guess it's a manufacturer conspiracy to make you think you're going quicker than you really are. There is also the obvious thing that to consitantly manufacture accurate speedos is probably not viable.

What's even better than the trap speed, If your speedo was only off 2 MPH at above 100 MPH, HOLY MOLY that's impressive for a factory speedo, WOW!

Kevin,if you really care that the guys think that that performance was funny, then maybe you purchased the wrong motorcycle.Sell the BA,and go get something that will impress em,then no doubt they will be your bestest buddys! Come back to the BA when you get a little more age on ya, if they still make em then. Then you will be ready for what this fine motorcycle has to offer. Al

Al They did not think the BA performance was funny nor did I , I was very happy with it and the bike and never want to give it up! "they thought it was funny" was aimed at me not the bike. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Kevin

95 is respectable, especially considering he weight of the America. And, it is typical for these speedometers to be off by + 10 to 12 MPH. the interesting thing is that they are off by about the same amount from around 40 all the way up, so they would be extremely accurate if they just twisted the dial a wee bit.

Sorry Khar if I sounded a little harsh.I just have a problem with younger folks who react to peer pressure. You sound like you have that under control.Peer pressure has gotten a lot of people very unhappy, and sometimes hurt, trying to find someway to cope with that crap.Once again I am sorry if I mistook what you were saying. Hi Al:
Ijust got back from riding the coast of Maine, met alot of different riders and I totally understand why you felt as you do.
Bike ran great the whole time.
I wish I knew how to get rid of scratches and swirlls on tank and fenders , any Ideas?
And I learned the BTA develops its own personality and stop looking for "whats that noise" and just enjoy the bike.(unless the noise is a problem of course).
Ride safe everyone.
Kevin

Not true. I compared mine using my GPS. They are off exponentially about 9%. Its just that if you are doing 30mph, its hard to notice you are doing 28mph. But at at 80mph indicated the GPS shows 73mph.

I would guess 95 mph puts the quarter mile somewhere in the mid 14's. Meguiars "Scratch X" works fine for very light swirls/scratches. Anything deeper would need something more aggresive in their Mirror Glaze line (and a machine polisher)
