Hope I've posted this in the right place, but i've just ordered my alarm, one of the cheeter ones from the guy in singapore(and a plug from one of the members here i fink). i believe you get an led with it, I know some people fit them in a hole they drilled in the instrument console, but I fancy fitting in one of them holes blanked off with rubber in the console. Should i what are they blanked off for???. also when i get the bike wet the speedo and the tacho let in some water do others have this propblem has anyone taken them to bits to dry and reseal them????.

The left hole's the standard spot for an alarm LED. The one supplied with the cheetah alarm will fit straight into it (along with the supplied LED clip). The oval hole on the right's for clock adjustment buttons if you fit the clock instead of the tacho. I drilled an extra hole for mine because I had switches in both the blanked holes (hazard lights & driving lights).

The bike already has the wires running from the alarm plug to the console for the LED. You can either Fit the LED using the alarm's current wires, or cut it off and use the wires that're already fitted to the bike. This is easier if you can find the 2 pin plug that's under the console. I got mine from the extra (unneeded) wiring harness that comes with the tacho if you buy it separately. If you dont' have that ask around - someone here'll have one they can send you.

I've not had either gauge leak - maybe they have REAL rain in Scotland. I don't think they can be disassembled easilly - you could try a think smear of silicon round the edges but if the bike's new I'd take it back to the dealer and complain - the seals should be weatherproof.

Thanks Matt, for the advice and the wiring diagram it's lucky we have people that are willing to spend the time doing theses things. As for the gauges it's more of a condensation problem, moisture must be getting in, but I left it out in the sun today and they cleared. I hate silicone so I am not redy to go down that route yet. I'll leave any further investigation till another day, as you rightly guessed we do have real rain here lot's of it too, so there will be plenty of workshop time for it.

Ian.
Have you received the plug yet? Let me know if you have any problems with wiring. Remember in order for the pins to be pushed in to the plug they need to soldered very cleanly. I cut the crimp tabs off. Before you put the wires in double check its the right one.I left the pos 1/2 loop as it was and used 3/5 for the immobiliser. The remote start does'nt work although the ignition comes on but why would you want remote start!. The sensitivity of mine was adjustable and I have it on max.
I too live in Scotland and my rev counter does'nt seem to leak!

Hey Stephen..

I finally got round to buying one of those plugs off your ebay site. Looking forward to re-connecting my socket (well, not really looking forward to that bit) and wiring it up properly so I can re-write the alarm page.

The key to doing it right is 1st. make sure you know exactly which wires go in which pins and 2nd. that if you do not have the correct crimp tool for these pins that when you solder them you keep it very neat and minimalist with the solder as you will not be able to push them into the plug! Any other questions let me know.
Have you still got the drought over there? My sister lives in Victoria, may go over to see her soon.

That's the only way to solder, isn't it?

Where I am (Brisbane) we've actually had about 35mm of rain in the last 3 days - best rain in more than five years - however the dams are still down to 18% capacity.

Most of Australia didn't have that rain however - parts of the Murray-Darling basin (where we grow 40% of our food) have been told that come July 1 there'll be zero water allocated for farming for the first time ever, because the little water left in storage is being held for emergency rationing for domestic & minimal stock use.

Welcome to Australia - please BYO water (unless you're going to the Hunter Valley in which case you'll need a life jacket due to the floods).

You can have some of the rain we've had the last couple of days.... we have flooded cities, towns and it's buggered the railway big time...

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

Just got the plug for my BA. Will put the alarm in over the long weekend here. (Show Day Monday) I am riding to Cairns in a few weeks and I want it in by then. We had a good wet season up here but that bloody South East corner wants our water. Burdekin Dam is good for 50 years now. They want to split the state so the tourists don't go to bed too early down there. Looks like its time for a revolution. Time to separate. Go the North!!!!

That old chestnut has been round for years feral. Unfortunately for you guys, nth bananaland generates most of Qld's (and second to West Aus - Australia's for that matter) economy and all the votes are in the south east quarter. In other words it's just not happening . The best you can do is hopefully watch the cowboys give the Broncos and Titans a flogging
