I used to be strong like bull and smart like tractor...now I don't think I am as strong as bull.

Stinking 50 year old eyes! I could have sworn the kick stand was down...no really I could see the thing! Guess what, didn't have my glasses on...wasn't the kick stand...maybe my imagination, I don't know.

Well you all know what floor boards do, been there done that...did it again! Except I saw the stinking kick stand down!

Well you ever tried screaming for your 17 year old son when your using every bit of your strength (remember, strong like bull) to keep the precious from touching the concrete? I didn't muster much volume in the grunts but he heard me and came to my rescue! God bless the boy!

Well didn't hurt the bike but man my arm and lower back are already screaming at me, can't imagine tomorrow morning!

So who wants to bet the chiropractor bill and a day off work will be cheaper than a tweaked whatever I saved?

I certainly have some disease because I just could not bring myself to let it go...really I tried, I just couldn't do it!

I need help.

Glad you and the bike are ok. Hopefully your back is only a little sore.

You know, there's a new idea for a decal in all of this. A bright orange one that says, "Check The Kick Stand"

Even with out the chiropractor the human body has the ability to heal itself. I'm still waiting for someone to make a bike with that ability.

I think you made the right decision, good job. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Sorry to hear you went horizontal , but you sacrificed yourself for your ride - such selfless devotion .I think you should stick some of those Union Jack reservoir stickers on the parts that hurt - it sure made Lola feel better !

Well Ed, I'd take that bet...but only if you see this and immediately get on the floor on your back, bend your knees to your chest with you arms around those knees for 30 seconds. And then with you shoulder-blades square to the floor, cross your right leg over your left, and bend them both to the left and hold for 15 seconds, and then do the opposite leg crossover and bend them to the right for 15 seconds. Repeat this complete process a total of 10 times.

And you must do this every morning and every night.

These are the stretches my chiropractor taught me to do after my lower back "went out" the first time, right after I turned 50, five years ago. And I say the "first time" because I often fail to follow his advice, unfortunately.

Good luck my friend.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I followed a couple on a heavyweight cruiser on a right hand turn through a construction zone stop sign a 4 years ago. I watched as their rear tire "attempted" to climb a baseball shaped rock. One second they were upright, the next millisecond they were both lying on the right side, both with respective right feet trapped underneath respective floorboards.

Tweren't funny........, no damage to bike or riders, except pride. Take care Eddie, old guys need to look out for each other, although I might not go so far as Soren's orange sticker idea

Back in 1980 or 81 some idiot cut a corner way too tight at an intersection where I was stopped on my bike at a stop sign, causing me to bail out to save my hide. A combination of anger and embarrassment caused me to right it using a combination of the snatch and jerk. (By the way, I was in Tijuana at the time) Following an agonizing ride home to San Diego on a Sunday afternoon I crawled into my house and spent the night groaning and begging my wife to do everything for me. The next day the flight surgeon grounded me (for three WEEKS!) Muscle relaxers and mild stretching exercises got me walking semi normally in a few days. That bike only weighed 450 lbs and I was in my 20’s. We old guys have to watch it Ed.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

ouch been there and done that, although it was my old suzuki. Result was torn tendons, pulled muscles and a week on the sick (at least there was no disc damage), the back took a few months to heal, however the bike was not damaged. Ibrophen and pain killers were my daily little helpers for a while.
Hope the back heals quick, ride safe.

Ah, the good ol' lumbar roll. Yep, it works. And congratulations on not dinging your scoot as you are absolutley correct that the chiro bill and day off will be much cheaper mentaly as well as monetarily

"the precious".

I smile when I see bandaids on bikes, covering little dings from tipovers. I imagine the owner with polish and a rag, kissing the boo-boo, soothing the ouchie.

I wonder how long will it take for your son to stop reminding you about the day he had to save you (and your bike) from your own stupidity? You may never live that one down!

I hope you heal up just fine.

Made the mistake of leaving the kickstand up only once and did manage to stop it before it got too heavy, but it sure got my attention.

It's a good day today! I "chose wisely!" (Indiana Jones The Last Crusade) I feel great this morning!

Dwight, I did stretches almost immediately. I am still strong like bull and smart like tractor!

How low did I limbo? I touched the floorboards! And this was a one arm operation as my left arm had the brunt of the weight.

Has not been the first time my son has pulled a bike off of me. First time I did it was right after I got the floorboards. Second time was this spring when I ran a bike onto the grass to wash it (not mine) found out the front brakes grabbed a great deal more than Blues do, I went down like a rock and was pinned under the bike, boys had to come lift it off of me because my foot was wedged! Yea, I know don't use front brakes on grass, problem with riding Observed Trials, you learn to use the fronts on all surfaces. BUT NOT with a Suzuki!

Yep, I have given my kids plenty to have memories about. They have witnessed most every crash I have had. Like the time Dad did a head on into the "Big Rock" supposed to go over it, went into it. Or the time Dad tried to stand on the motorcycle seat with no hands (dirt bike) ...that hurt.

Like I said, strong like bull...smart like tractor!

Eddy, my doctor gave me the same stretches Dwight's did, the only thing I can ad is nothing works faster than an icepack.
