I'm about two hours from Boone...a ride up there would be great. I'll check my work and the kids' schedules, and send you a PM.

Dang, this does sound like a mini-rally! btw, my place is actually up top of Sugar Mountain, right outside Banner Elk. I look out my living room window and can see Beech Mountain. Now, my condo is a one bedroom and THAT bedroom is ALL mine! Jim and Lynn already called the sleeper couch so there ain't much room. Are any of you planning on staying over a night or two? I can see what's up for motels and such.... Here's a teaser:

I'll be there that week; on the top of the other side of Sugar, facing Grandfather Mountain.

Wouldent it just be easier to post your number in the thread so everyone can read it and call you whenever they want?

I might be able to make it up there the day before you head south. Ray and I can sleep in the yard, the bears aren't real big bears.

Apparently not... But we should stop High jacking Uncle Fills thread, maybe start a new one so we can discuss his 900 number.

Phil, I plan to be in the area June 29 and 30. It would be fun to meet up with you again. I do not know the area so if you can suggest some motels that would be great. I'll be travelling with a Ducati rider.

Here's some info on hotel/motels:
Beech Mountain Inns 700 Beech Mountain Parkway Beech Mountain, NC 28604 828-387-2252 866-284-2770 Orbitz has them from $99 per night
Best Western Mountain Lodge at Banner Elk 1615 Tynecastle Hwy Banner Elk, NC 28604 828-898-4571 Orbitz has them from $114 per night
That's all I see in Banner Elk. The rest are in Boone (about 15 miles away) and all are more expensive, some by a $100. This is prime season up in the mountains and a lot of places are rented...

If you don't need anything too fancy, you may also want to try going a little south - maybe Linville, Newland, Pineola, etc. A couple of places I know of are: http://www.pineolainn.com/http://www.parkviewlodge.com/There is also a little place in Linville, beside the Tartan Restaurant, that is popular with bikers, but I can't remember the name right now. Also, there is a neat little place near Jonas Ridge, but again, name escapes me. Smaller places, but more what High Country hotels used to be like before all of the big chains moved in. Fortunately the Highland Games have been moved back a week, or getting a room would be a serious chore.
