now thats the way to go if i had enough cash and the missus would let me i would not hesitate to buy one of those kits lovely it says it uses the stock carb but i only see one carb so it must be jetted up quite a lot wonder wot it cost the canadian dollar to the pound is good for us so it could be cheap i suppose there is the extra cost of a new speedo as i would like to see 220 to 240 kph and the bikes speedo only goes upto 180kph

Whoa, wicked pipes! I'll bet it's louder than, well, we all know what it's louder than... Doesn't mention beefing up the tranny. Wonder how long the gears will last?

I wonder, with a turbo, they are usually quiet because the exhaust recirculates right? Does look pretty wicked.

I bought my BA at Echo Cycle and got to see this bike in person. It is Hot! When I bought my BA they tried to sell me a nitro and turbo kit and my bike was still in the crate! They do some cool stuff there but the service kind of stinks!

Negative. You get the full Monte on the exhaust note plus a cool turbo whine. I had a 5" exhaust with a big turbo on my other truck. When I bought the new truck, no one said, " I see you got a new truck." Instead, EVERY single neighbor said, "I see you got rid of that loud truck"! Man it sounded way cool, but it was loud.

Again, I ask, will the tranny hold up to 90HP? And what kind of clutch did they use?

I didn't see the price? Or was that just me. Their used bikes are way high. And with that current wacky exchange rate with Canada this must be expensive. I think it falls into one of those, "if you have to ask you can't afford it" categories.

Don't those turbines get really hot? Doesn't the exaust turbine drive the intake turbine? I had a old timer once tell me that they get so hot that you can see through them (so to speak) and that they are great for diesel but not as good for gas? Just wondering.

Yeah they get hot, that's why lots of turbo gas motors have intercoolers.

Autos- What do they do draw off of the radiator ,like an inner cooling tube through the inner body or something? Or are they self cooling by another means. Reason I wondered ,is how they cool down on a bike that has a oil cooler.

It's like another small radiator, except rather than engine coolant running thru the tubes, it's the pressurized air. Or a water to air intercooler might have like the small radiator with liquid running thru it and that cools the tube of air. Not quite sure the specifics, but it is in addition to any other radiators/coolers etc.

All done without modifying stock internals...done at Echo Cycle in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.
I wonder why the barrels are painted the same brown colour as the turbo manifolds? Maybe they are a little bit taller to lower compression like turbo motors should be.... I know its not modifying the stock internals, but the engine would certainly have to be rebuilt from the barrells up.
Very nice bike and engine none the less!
TBA, Stainless extractors / drag pipes, 65mm over forward controls, Thruxton needles, 904cc, head ported, lowered 1-inch, Console removed, relocated battery box, Australia.

OK, I got back from Echo Cycle in Edmonton yesterday, and here's what I found out: 1. The fellow who helped me unload my bike from the 1/2-ton was actually the owner of that turbo-charged SM. He said it's a good thing the stock saddle is scooped because the bike will pull itself away from under your rear. He also said the dyno chart doesn't reflect the torque...he said riding it, the torque is doubled also.(?) The exhaust is not as terribly loud as it looks. He rides it on the street, and so far hasn't had any issues with the law. 2. Echo Cycle is going to postpone doing the turbo mod until the EFI TBA/SM's come out in 2008. This mod is unstable with carbs...there is an issue with correct idle...but once the EFI models arrive, the issue will be resolved and Echo Cycle will market the turbo work. 3. Cost of turbo mod is $7000 CDN. 4. Cost is HIGH, but I was told there are folks in the booming economy of Alberta who want the quickest bike at any cost, and they have the dough to get what they want. 5. BTW...my first service went smooth, cost was under $200. Tech who worked on my bike asked me where I bought the bike. I told him British Italian Motorcycles in Vancouver (oldest Triumph dealership in North America- since the 1940's). He said with K&N filter and long TORS, they did a beautiful job of rejetting, and setting the carbs. He works on a lot of Bonnies, TBA's and SM's and said he's never encountered a smoother running twin. That was music to my ears.

Ah-ha, knew it! Most of the turbo bikes I've seen (4-5 show up at Ephrata, PA ride) were pretty quiet despite really short tubes.
Figured it might be pretty finicky. Double the HP usually yields more issues. But like you said, if your going to invest what, $5k US in mods, repairing a few things down the line is no big deal.
