For some months, now been trying to get jetting right after switching to quieter pipes for a road trip. Went back to original setup, bike didn't run near as well as before. Struggled to hit redline in lower gears, topped out at about 95. Frustrating to the point I haven't been riding as much lately.
Today, took a few hours and installed mid-pegs, chain maintenance, and decided to install in-line filter thats been sitting on a shelf since last fall. Hidden filter looked brand-new after 20,000 miles, only a few tiny specks in bottom. Took bike out this afternoon, WOW! What a difference! Hardly time to shift in lower gears before redline, zipped up to 105 in no time before I backed off. Never exhibited classic signs of clogged fuel filter, ran smoothly, just no power after 3/4 throttle.
