How has everyone been? I Haven't been doing much after aquiring my first bit of extensive roadrash. Fortunately it wasn't on my beloved trumpet. It was at the hands of a 7000lb cage. Just walking casually through a parking lot to do a bit of shopping and as I am walking past the rear of a mammoth ford HEAVY DUTY pickup the driver looks back at what I though was ME!!! I guess he saw through my skeleton like 200+lb frame or just felt like running over someone after a bad shopping experience. So I take one step behind the beast and vrooooom he nails the gas, takes out my leg with the HD bumper and continues to drag me under the monstrous cage for 20 ft or so. I hang on to the bumper for dear life with my left arm, my right arm dragging underneath me all the while trying to avoid being dragged under the beasts rubber. For a finnale he slams the brakes, jarring my tight left grip loose and sending my head on a crash course towards the greasy pavement. I guess he must have felt bad and could not stand the sight of blood because he TOOK OFF!!!
That night the hospital doc comes and tells me she has bad news. I fractured my femur. Well I have broken plenty of bones in my time and I disagree. She insists and sets me up with an immobilzer. I get the unavoidable scrubdown to remove the road debrise from my fleshy wounds. All in all about and hour of burning pain. The next day I see the orthipedic and he agrees with me...HAHA. Well I thought at that point I evaded an extended loss of riding time but to my surprise I have some nerve damage and something else wrong with my left shoulder. So I have been sitting around for maybe a month now not even able to properly type, just read.
So Monday I start physical therapy. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllp!!!!!!!!!!

How did he know you ride a Triumph?

Were you or anyone else able to get his licence plate number?

Glad that you are getting well. Take good care of yourself to get healed up properly and you'll be back on your bike soon enough.

WOW!!! Where did it happen? I think we travel around similar areas, maybe I can keep my eyes peeled for ya. Also, where are you doing PT? I know people... Definitely keep up with the PT and DO WHAT THEY SAY!! I didn't do it well enough when I broke my leg 15 years ago and I STILL feel a difference in strength between the two.

Glad you're more or less okay. But, and I've always wanted to say this, 'did anybody get the number of that truck that hit you?'

Man...Keith! That's quite some bad luck there. Glad you're feeling at least better enough now to type out this sad commentary regarding certain people's seeming lack of concern for other's safety and their failing to take responsibility for their actions.

Get well soon.

And Friar John!!!! I'm SHOCKED that a man of your position around here would EVER make light of somebody else's misfortune in such a manner!!!

(somethin' I'd NEVER do 'round here, of course)

(BTW Keith, I'm guessing the answer to Soren's question was that Triumph T-shirt that you were wearin' that dark day, right?!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Dang, hit by a Ford/Harley combo. Doesn't get any worse. I'm glad you're okay but I know how a broken limb goes and it's no picnic. Just keep telling yourself the physical therapist rides a hog (so you can properly hate him) and keep that Triumph goal in mind.

That it was a Harley Davidson edition Ford only adds insult to injury.

Glad you survived that. It's those LI drivers. Always in a hurry to go nowhere. You sure it wasn't a Dodge Charger?

Hey thanks guys. It's my dramatic version due to telling the story too many times. My biggest problem is nothing to do but sit around and try not to pick scabs. Starting going back to work sooner then I am supposed to. Feeling well enough to be tempted for a ride. But probably not yet. Not use to spending so much $$ on gas. Need a cage with better mpg.

Yes it's the stupid LI drivers in a rush all the time. Last time they backed into my bike. Not sure if he knew. Not sure if he couldn't know?

Benny the shopping center by home depot. Hey by the way right before all this I took a cruise on whiskey road. Lost my right side exhaust tip. See one anywhere? It's a turnout.
Monday I get the insurance required referral. I should know then where I am going.

The Patchogue Home Depot? By the Best Buy/Bobs, etc? I think a lot of the problems around here are they are too small! The lot by the laundrymat near us is always tight, and people STILL just pull up along the curb. "Oh I'm just running in to get a bagel" or "just hitting the ATM". Well we ALL ARE!! You can park too! I hate that... Glad you are feeling better!

He said it was a Heavy Duty truck, not a Harley Truck.
