Im sorry to hear about your bad luck, but luckily you were ok.
Given the fact that I wouldn't like to go through the experience you unfortunately went through, I thought I might beef up my own chain guard to avoid the same fate?
I made up 2 small brackets, one bent at ninety degrees and the other bent to the shape of the guard at the rear mounting hole. Drilled some 4mm holes and used some polished 4mm pan head socket bolts and red loctite.








I really dont think it needed the brackets, there didnt seem to be any stress fractures, but I would rather do this than have it break.The guard was an original black guard that I got plated myself. Not sure if that is relevent or not but it is strange how the factory chrome ones seem to be breaking.
