Made a similar cut in mine a while back too(well, you know what they say about "great minds", right?!
), but only on the top forward part of the fender. I kind'a thought the same thing as Phil did that cutting down the back part of it might throw a liitle more dirt and grime onto the front of the bike than I wanted.
The stock cut always seemed to me to go a little too far forward, and kind'a resembled a Sportster's fender a little too much also.
