Yep. You're probably right, Brian. But as I mentioned above in my first reason as to why a 450lb cruiser(and not a super or sportsbike, once again) would be low on Triumph's list to produce, would be that the vast numbers of potential cruiser buyers really don't place a premium about the weight of their bikes. It's much more the looks that count, and especially, as I also mentioned, that "massive" look. As an examble, look at the primary cases on a standard Bonneville and then notice how in an attempt to give the BAs and Speedmaster that more massive look, the engineers in Hinckley made that primary gear case even larger on them. This idea can also be seen on the countershaft sprocket cover which is also much larger on the Triumph cruisers than on the standard Bonnie.
In other words, even if Triumph could somehow shave a lot of weight off their cruiser line, I feel they wouldn't make such a machine because basically the vast numbers of the buying public probably wouldn't particularly care for it.
But, just like yourself, I too can usually appreciate any lighter machine's more capable road handling and higher "fun-factor".
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
