As a major offender of sidestepping the profanity filter myself on occasion, I'm going to guess that pseudo-curse words are okay (if unimaginative, as Chy would suggest). I think what were not going to allow is spelling out a curse word with one of the letters swapped for a number or asterisk or other character, so the word is still essentially readable.

I'm sure Phil will correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, the members should know that, while the Lounge is more or less a free-for-all as far as topic drift, this will be less tolerated in the other, more topic-focused, forums. There is an epidemic of people replying to questions in other forums saying something contradictory, inflammatory or worse, completely useless.

If someone asks a specific technical question, and you don't have a relevant comment or follow-on question, keep your trap shut. If you have something different to add, start a new thread or send a PM.

This does have a real justification. Occasionally there will be a discussion in one of the tech forums that is just a goldmine of useful info. When we want to move that into the Tech Vault, it is a pain in the rear to "clean it up" and remove the cruft.

Before the usual blowhards freak out, understand that none of this applies to the Lounge (starting after the profanity paragraph). I, for one, don't want to have to start pruning the Lounge of all the frivolous posts people make to ramp up their post count. I don't get paid enough to do that.
