My pick of the sport touring crowd is the 08 Concours. I loved my 02 (but traded it for a SM :-)).
2002 Bandit 1200/ GSXR cams/ 1277 BB Kit/ Holeshot header and can/ 38mm flatslides/ a good head/lotsa hp/lotsa tq- lots of rear tires...

I prefer Sport Touring bikes That being said, having ridden the Honda's, BMW's and Yamaha's (top of the ST food chain) I have to say, HANDS DOWN.... The Sprint ST is the best...and the Trophy 1200 is suprisingly nimble and will not dissapoint....I have a Sprint Sport in my garage next to the Bonnie and if I did not have the Sprint...it would be a 1200 Trophy.....loved the beemer and the FJ but the Sprint ST is PRIMO !

Yea,, a buddy of mine owns an FJ - after we swapped bikes on a ride...he said he thought my old Trophy was fabulous and then got somewhat po'ed after I told him how much it cost (less than his FJ) The Old Trophy is now owned by a friend of mine..has 100k + on the ODO and I'd run it cross country ,,yep it has been that dependable and solid..even after 40K+ miles with a sidecar attached !

The old ZZR1200 was faster/lighter/more powerful, than the new Concours14. 140hp, 10 flat in the 1/4 mile, and they decided they needed this one. Must be the techno-glam.
Steelheart- '03 Speedmaster Black/Yellow

Well. sure. Technological advances are good. Shaft drive, variable valve timing, tetra(?)lever rear suspension. In a bike designed from the ground up to be a dedicated sport tourer under 13K, add $900 for ABS. Makes sense to me.

i'd suggest for someone to look at other forums before deciding which bike is "best", they all have plus's and pans, if you look at the c-14 forum they got some gripes about the concours. the bottom line is whatever suits you best, the FJR is very low maintenance, and just about bullet-proof. IF, AND, JUST IF, their was a BMW dealer in MS., theres not, i'd probably be riding a K1200GT. the FJR still beats the slop out of the K1200GT money-wise on money-wise on maintenance hands dowm. several BMW's had final gear faile in the last iron butt rally?????, i'm sure they'll look at that. it's your dollar, get the most out of it,,,,,,i'm confident i did.

03Cruiser, I too owned an 03 Speedy - before I wrecked it (it can be seen here). Now I am riding an 04 BMW R1100S (see pic below). It is in the "ST" category (little heavier on the "S," lighter on the "T"). I've also owned a Honda ST 1100, but it was a bit of a bore. Then there was a Buell S3, which was kindof an odd contraption. The BMW is the most thought-out motorcycle I've ever owned, - but I sure do miss my Speedy. That's my two cents worth. -BT
"Speedmaster" is a title not a name, - and the title is not plural.

Well I have put over 1500 miles on the loaner Sprint. I love it. Comfortable upright postion, low vibrations 50+ mpg, so much power its laughable, decent wind protection, and stable in the rain. This one doesn't have bags so I can't comment on them. Downside, the lights aren't that great and they bounce around. Which sometimes prompts cars to pull over if you come up on them fast at night. And it runs hot if you sitting in traffic, and that undertail exhaust looks really cool, but can get a little warm, now that I'm used to it, it's not that hot, but at first it made me wonder. I guess they have fixed that on the 07s.
They have improved it, but they have not fixed it. Especially in this climate, I hear it is hot. So what? Get one! I have been on a Duc, and the riding position, for short armed me, is much more aggressive than the '07 Sprint.
Ummm. From my Biketoberfest demo, I can now confirm that the Sprint ST is so hot that I thought my Cordura riding pants would melt to my shins. Insert favorite Robin Williams quote from "Good Morning Vietnam".
