Frank, if you remind me on Tech Day at Uncle Charlie's I'd be happy to go over it with you, etc, if not do it.

Just ordered 3 Stebel horns. 1 for me, 1 for Poppy, 1 extra for the 1st one to speak up!
I got an e-mail note that the 3 horns have shipped, 1 is still available, as is a pair of Progressive fork springs.
Hope for another great turn-out, Uncle Charlie

Not sure if I can make it... I this past weekend off to go 'pleasure boating' I might have to work that weekend. I'll let you know as it gets closer. If I'm working I will probably need my tools on the boat, but I can drop off the bike lift if you need an extra one. UC sent you a pm about the springs cheers -capn

Yes! Sat 6/30 9am 'till whenever.
I'm not planing a ride for this one, alot to do! It is "Tech Day" after all. I'll get pizzas for lunch this time to maximize wrenching efforts. Snacks and soft drinks will also be on hand.
And the Stebels arrived today, 1 set still available. They came to $46 each, which includes shipping, and an installation kit w/relay, wires and connectors.
Let me know if anyone wants any parts or supplies on hand, I can pick up oil & filters or whatever. So far: Brake Fluid, Vac Caps and hose, Fork Oil.

Charlie, I have 130 main jets, d-tool and allen head screws for float bowl and a uni filter. I'd be psyched if we could get the jets in. Let me know what you spend on food, the least I could do is contribute. See you next Saturday.

Erwin,
Can you drill the slides with the carbs still in the bike ???
What does drilling the slides do for you ??

yes but you have to take the top chrome cover off and pull out the slide assy. My set up is TB pipes/130/TBS no shims/3 1/2ish turns out. ever since doing these mods and balancing carbs Ive always had a tiny hesitation when rolling the throttle. Drilling the slide is suppose to give you more vaccume for better throttle responce. Worked great!! I see your signature states you have an 06, if thats the case ,yours should have the larger diameter hole already.

I installed the Stebel horn today(sorry, just couldn't wait!). If you want to install the horn in the same position as the old one, you need some washers that will fit the bolt that comes with the horn. The rubber mount is too flimsy. If you want to install the relay where the old AI unit was mounted you need to buy a 3' length of 12-14 ga wire to add onto the fused wire that comes with the install kit.It needs to be soldered. You also need to find that bolt that goes into the mount! Whats nice is that the horn wires will plug directly into the relay without altering. And that's that.

We need a pack of zip ties too. I have some real long super heavy ones I can bring, but I think some smaller ones for tying back hoses and wires is a good idea. Also, the instructions say to keep the compressor vertical, not sure if that will be possible under the seat, but I did figure out how to separate the halves.

Also you need a crimping tool for the wire connectors, oh yeah a lock washer that will fit the horn bolt. That should be it. You guys know how to adjust the chain? I'm always afraid it won't be aligned. I have the wrenchs for the rear axle. Let me know...

One more thing with the Stebel. If you want to have the air intake under the tank you need to get a 3' piece of hose that will fit the adapter that comes with it.

The clear tubing I have is 1/4" ID and fits on there snug. I know I have at least 3 feet of it, and I'll confirm how much I can get in a couple days. That being said, it is cheap at the Depot or wherever... I also use it on my brake bleader.

Is the 1/4"ID clear tubing what you use for the fresh-air intake to the horn?

Yep. I tried it on my horn, and it fits nice n snug on there. Some zip ties used like hose clamps would be good insurance too. I think we'll be fine tho.

FYI the bolts used for the AI holder are a pretty common thread size on our bikes. I think the one I used is the original, but it may not be. I just pulled it out of my "bolts off bike" bin Point being, there may be some extras laying around Charlie's shop that will work.
