Can the stock handlebar controls on the TBA be chromed? I’m changing my handlebars to Carlini and want chrome controls but the only option to do that would be to go Harley.
I would prefer if I can keep my stock controls and just have them chromed. Anyone with any info please add their .2 cents.

I couple of guys have them, can't remember names. I've had the controls apart, you have to remove some connectors and wire mounts, etc. but it doesn't look too bad. The pix I've seen show they make a dramatic improvement. Hopefully someone else will chime in with names/pix.

Although not stock, this might be an option.

The only hitch I think you would run into is that they are part plastic, part metal...

You certainly can chrome the stock handlebar controls. The main stock body is metal but the control covers are plastic. You still can chrome the platic but not every chromer does it. I did chrome the main body but left the plastic alone. I am searching for a very custom controls to fit onto my new Z-bars.
Al, I do like the PM controls that Bonneville performance sells. I wonder what the prices are.

Those PM controls are beautiful. Bet they're over $500 for the pair?

If I remember correctly you also have to take the master cylinder apart and get a rebuild kit for it. Maybe Fryguy can give the details on that (if I'm correct or not). Also if that is true was the part # of the kit.

Britrover, Depending on your location (why don't people fill those in?) here is a plater with a lot of experience and is used by many car restorers and customizers in my area. They do chroming as well as plastic, but also do powdercoating, and 24 karat gold plating. I'll be using them for the first time this winter for the 05-06 projects. Advanced Plating

More I'd say.. prices from PM's website are: left & right 3 button switch housings - chrome: $229.95 each Dual Cable throttle housing - chrome: $89.95 Clutch lever assembly - chrome: $199.95 for early HD, $249.95 for late model HD Brake master cylinder, 9/16" - chrome: $349.95 Brake light switch - chrome: $49.95
So you're looking at US$1149.70 if you assume that our bikes use the early model clutch setup. Then of course you have to get the controler for the pushbuttons.
BDL do a similar design - found their prices in the Custom Chrome catalog.. their switch housings and levers are single units, for the pair it'll cost you US$882.82 and you still have to get a throttle housing & controller.
Think I'll stick with the stock units for now

Sandman those prices seem to be way out of line! I had some parts plated for my Vette here in Vegas and the plating did not cost anywhere near that much. Al

Hey, black is beautiful! I bet chroming our controls would be less than $200. I have a place locally that does plastic chrome. One of these days, my dash cover will probably need re-chromed.

Sandmann isn't talking about chroming but buying a completely new set of controls that are already chromed.

Al, I could see the PM controls being around $500 for the set. I know Hurst makes a really nice setup for $700. Ness has a set of the controls with the switchblade levers for $450. I'm thinking I could use any control setup for a front single disc. I would just have to adapt the electronics a bit. A little solder here, a little solder there.

Wow what did those run you? Which ones are they? What did you have to do to make them fit?
