I guess that depends on your point of view. Works for me since most of the fancy bits for the bike come from the US.

You'll be happy to know that over the last three years I've never bothered to file for a refund on the taxes I paid for the hotel rooms and such.

I can't say that that helps the taxes that I have to pay, although I'm sure the Canadian government thanks you.

I have a pile of hazards at work I'm trying to deal with by Thursday, so I'll be coming through Creston about 2 - 3 hours later than you. Say hi if you happen to see me though - you can recognise me because I'll be riding a Triumph America.

Stranger things have happened. Roadie, Freedom and I were leaving Bonners Ferry, ID, last year and here comes a blue TBA from another direction. He was riding fast, too - we finally caught up at the border. Turned out to be a guy named Andy from Seattle who hung out with us all weekend.

Bike's ready.. new plugs, lubed up the chain... will pack tomorrow nite. Heading to Calgary to see my daughter for dinner then head out bright and early Friday morning and I'm shooting for mid afternoon arrival!

I'm the blue TBA with half UnionJack and Canadian flag on front fender.. probably the only one with that on his bike...

Looking forward to meeting you guys....

Good times catching up with old friends (no, literally trying to catch up with old friends ) and making new friends in the Bohemian capitol of British Columbia.

Again, Border guards in both directions appreciate Triumph motorcycles. I'll pack an extra helmet next year.

BTW: Fillo, how's you're new friend doing?

It was good to see old friends and meet "new" friends. Met Trevor (Fillo - what a character) and Steve (RSD) and his wife. Unfortunately I missed Oilleak. Steve said he was there but I never found him.

If you haven't gone to one of these events it's totally worth the time and effort. Just remember to be safe out there, kids. We had a wrecked Scrambler and Trophy, and almost a dead Bonneville America rider.

Was great to finally put some faces to the names... everyone I met was great (even FJ classed himself up a bit for the event). Weather was excellent.. sometimes too hot though. Stopped by Echo Cycle today and picked me up a nice summer mesh jacket (similar to your's FJ).

Whatever FJ or Freedom say about me is only 10% true.

Freedom.. no idea.. thank all that is Holy for that

heh

What a blast it was... rode home all yesterday.. total of 12hr on the road and 10 in the saddle (my keester is SORE today)

Just between Calgary and Airdrie I had the fortune to ride into a bloody hail storm.. no damage but wife heard reports near along the highway of hockey puck sized hail coming down. Luckily I didn't see any of that.. but did have to spend 20min with a couple of other unfortunate souls on bikes.

Well in that case, you're a gentleman and a scholar. A true distinguished man of class and insight.

BTW, I know you ditched the future Mrs. Fillo, but I'm sure she'll still be there waiting for you next year. She's been skulking around there for the past few Raids, just as bug-nutty as ever.

I finally made it into Victoria and have internet access at my daughter's place. Actually, the neighbour's unprotected wireless, while it's my job to repair her's. Incredible riding - us flat landers don't know what we're missing.

Had a good time. Met new folks, funny how people look completely different from what you expect when just having heard or read them. Learnt lots. Ok, that means I need to spend lots more.

Thanks all.

I finally uploaded my pictures from the Raid. You can peep members Freedom, LKR, RSD and Fillo, but you might not if you have a queasy stomach. Unfortunately I missed Oilleak and Myette, and I don't know if Brad and Rene actually have accounts or just lurk here from time to time. Oddly enough there are no pictures of me...

Cool pictures, didn't expect to see the blue Road King mixed in with all the Brits.

Chris also has a Thruxton and a Daytona (or Sprint or some sporty thing) but his wife wasn't about to ride all the way to Nelson on one of those, hence the Harley. But he's a maniac on the Thruxton.

FriarJohn, Thanks for sharing the pics. It was a blast and now a memory. I did have pics of your bike but lost all my Nelson pics somewhere between loading and unloading. Wayne has some on his camera so will post if there are any good ones. If he finds a Thurxton for next year's rally then he will leave the harley at home .

Nice pictures,

Now I need to run back up there and see what I missed the first time. It seems like 2 months ago, already .
