Hey All:
Thanks for all your help to date.
I am ready to pull the trigger on a '07 America. Should I expect to pay full MSRP? I have aleays been one to negotiate...
Am going to add some bags, sissy bar / luggage rack and tachometer, along with a cover. Also considering a windscreen but at 6'2, may have to look around. Plan on using it primarily for weekend touring in the mountains of Colorado with my wife on the back... so maybe upgrade the shocks? Any other thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks again!

Do you have your heart set on an '07? This is the time of the year that you could pick up a really sweet deal if there are any '06s left. I know you won't get the changes for the '07 but saving a few bucks would make it worth it for me.

It may depend on where you live, with dealer competition, etc. The way Triumphs are selling, you may likely pay full price. But you'll love every second of it. Best wishes!

More than likely you will pay full MSRP. The dealers don't have much room to play with the price of the bike. Accessories on the other hand are another story.

The stock shocks are good for two up riding.

If you get the '07 America, your wife will be more comfortable, since the pilon pad has more padding than years past.

you may want to go with asome aftermarkey bags instead of teh Triumph bags. The quality of the leather on the Triumph bags is not the highest.

It is kind of tough to give advice on a windscreen since everyone is different and has different preferences.

Definitley get the tach (not sure how anyone rides or drives anything that you have to shift can ride or drive efficiently without a tach, I hate not having one in my car).

I used Cycle Trader to bargain my way down $500 on a new Speedmaster back in 2003, the first year for that model. Make sure they aren't charging you large amounts for shipping and dealer prep.

Always, always, always...aftermarket bags and windshield. Stock bags are too small, and a large number of people experience buffeting with the stock windshields. The tachometer I would also skip Triumph's model. Drag Specialties is a popular one you can mount where you can see it, and it only costs about $60.

Progressive shocks are the most popular brand for an upgrade. Part numbers are in the Tech Vault, and testimonials are everywhere by doing a forum search. There have been lots of inroads on accessories for these bikes that end up better looking, better performing, and longer lasting(especially bags) than what Triumph offers.

Sissybar and luggage rack you should be able to get at 15-20% off when you buy the bike. Might try a WTB post in the classifieds first though to see if somebody wants to get rid of theirs. That is the one accessory item I went with Triumph.

Best tip is read in here before you buy anything extra for the bike. Could save you a nice pile of cash in the long run.

For traveling, that is an absolute must have. Even when I am not traveling, I am almost always using mine to haul something (who ever invented bungee cargo nets deserves the nobel prize).

You just get a feel for it. I've never had a tach in any manual vehicle I've ever had. The question I have, is why do you need a tach in an automatic (ok that was OT and doesn't really need an answer).

At this time of year it would doubt very much that you would get very much off the MRSP. Whoever suggested looking for an 06... I'd agree with that, you'll get one of those as a bargain!

Riding without a tach... I've never had one. I just feel when to change. At the end of the day, I can't rev the engine to bits, the rev limter would kick long before I hit that point...

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

Do you live in Colorado? If so, which dealer are you talking to? In my experience, neither of the Denver dealers are likely to bargain.

Wait until later in the model year, if you can wait.

If you go with an 06 model, you will want to change out the terrible 06 passenger seat for the 07 passenger seat, or something else. The passenger touring pillon is good and is probably about the same as the 07 passenger seat. Some have the Triumph touring seat (combined driver & passenger seat) which they say is good. Also, there are rumors that 2008 will bring fuel injection to these models, which may make altitude compensation more automatic???, vice our carburetors. However, our carbs are easy to modify (change jets, etc.)

North County Motorsports Has good deals on Triumph accessories. They're in San Diego County and will ship. They saved me some cash on a jacket and panniers.

They do have great prices - I see for example that they charge $136 for the OEM tach rather than the usual $160. Thanks for the heads up.

I really don't think Erico Motorsprts will. I got them to come off a bit on my 06 Speedy (God rest its soul,) because it was late in the season and they couldn't get the color I wanted. When I bought my 07 in March, no one was willing to deal. They wouldn't even come off the price of their 06 demo they were "trying to get rid of." They must have not been trying too hard, because I would have taken it off their hands for a bargain.

I just purchased 2007 speedmaster two-tone paint in the crate for 7995.00 +TTL and negotiated the dealer prep from 495.00 down to 210.00. Drove for a little less than 8900.00.
I LOVE this bike , It would be a deal at 9900.00
