And, Soren, my two college aged sons did not receive letter grades in California all the way through elementary and middle school. Nor did my wife and I in elementary school, actually. We moved to Portland, Oregon last year when our twins started 4th grade. Up until that point they did not receive letter grades either but, now they do. I think the way grades are reflected are district/school specific. I have nieces and nephews in 4 different states, some receive letter grades and others do not.
