As for why bragging jocks are more accepted than bragging smart people - Everyone has picked up a ball or gone swimming, ect., so everyone 'THINKS' they're a jock. Most people never did much mental exercise and KNOW they aren't all that bright. H3ll, some even feel threatened. All tolled, I'd give up my letter sweaters for sweet degree and a real career. Keep the kid's nose in the books. That's the ticket.
