I tend not to let any hint of nationalism enter my buying decisions. It's a global market. I've got 2 American vehicles, 3 German ones and one British motorcycle. Oddly enough, I've never had a Japanese vehicle. Nothing against them, I've just always liked my VWs. I really liked my old GMC Yukon but that thing was a gas hog, even before gas was over $3 a gallon. Needless to say I don't drive my Jeep pickup unless I have to.
Speaking of Japanese vehicles, I had to drive a drunk friend home last night after poker in his Honda Accord (late 90's I think). Then I rode home with another friend in his Honda Prelude (mid 90's). Hondas may be the bees knees when they're new but they were both underpowered rattletraps and neither car aged very well. I'll keep my '94 VeeDub thankyouverymuch.
