Has anyone tried this?
I’m thinking of having my air box cover done.

Looks cool but I have never seen any of that stuff that works like they say. If this does I would be interested to know and see the results.

My buddy runs a shop that does this, if you’re experienced and have the loot for the special set up to spray it, the final product turns out very nice.

Oh it takes a special set up? I thought it was another canned product.

If you have the shop built for it (spray booth, special water supply, temperature control, etc.) then its like laying paint with a few extra coats of stuff. You can spray anything with it including plastics making it a hot style for the sport bike scene.

What do you guys think do you like the look?

Might be a good way to get a chrome side cover for the right side of the bike since Triumph stopped selling them.

I must have read the price wrong. $6,700 for the hardware and $1,300 for chemicals.

That would be a very expensive side cover

OUCH! I didn't reaqd that. Sounds like it would be cheaper just to send the stuff out and let someone chrome it for you.

There a shop near my work that does it. They gave me an estimate of $35 for the side cover (air box cover)

Kinda reminds me of old school Christmas balls....the glass metallic ones red, blue, green .. you pick. Very "festive".

Why is he having it redone? Are there problems?

just thought I would add again to this thread. This spray chrome looks like ****** up close because there is no way to color sand it like a trad paint job. If you close at the pics online or get a chance to see it up close it has all kinds of orange peel and dirt in it add that to the high price people are charging to do this, blow off any thoughts you might have of getting it done and go get a nice paint job.

FJ: Are you saying that Triumph doesn't make the chrome sprocket cover anymore? I've always planned to get one but just hadn't yet ponied up the $'s until I had looked for alternatived to the George Foreman look...

No, I'm referring to the plastic side cover over the stock airbox. Triumph stopped selling them due to "quality issues."

Thanks--I wonder if those same issues will ever inspire them to make the dash from something other than plastic?

I'm thinking the chrome on the dash is sufficient in their minds. Unfortunately...
