Just wondering: In Georgia, just about every time I decelerated I got a pretty good backfire (or at least a noticeable "Poof" from the pipes). I very rarely get anything like that around here (pretty close to sea level), and haven't had any since I got back home. Just wondering if the altitude difference would have caused this? Or something else?

The altitude would make sense. From what I understand (and I could be wrong), the higher up you are the leaner you maybe running.

I thought the higher you go, the bike becomes richer, higher altitude = thinner air = less air = greater fuel to air ratio.

Cruser is correct.I remember in the truck flipping the air cleaner lid over to allow more air in up in the mountains.

I knew it was one way or the other. I did have a 50-50 chance at getting it right Soren

I have the thumbs screws specifically for this reason. I go to the mountains enough to warrant them. Easily adjusted for here or there.
