I must be hanging around the spit & polish folks too much.
This is the 2nd time I've washed the bike in two weeks,
or roughly the fourth time in a year.

(I even {shuush!} waxed it last week)

Litzerski, save me from this OCD known as motorcycle washing!

I need help too then... I spent an hour on Monday evening just cleaning the front wheel.... though it was the first time I'd done more than just give the wheel a scrub with some soapy water since I got him....

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

Da**

Someone call a doctor, Martin washed the bike four times this year thats three times more than last year.

I'm shamed him into one wash job maybe I went overboard, if we do not stop him he will wash the paint off that thing.

ppl say to me "black must be easy to keep clean, it wont show the dirt" Fools! I got caught in a heavy shower last week and after not cleaning it for a while, riding past a brick works, a bit of country riding it looks like pretty odinary. Its a wash, polish with my random orbital polisher then a wax with the Zymol...then lube the chain. Think that sounds excessive...it took 9 hrs to detail my car last time, yes I think thats sad too

you guys are weird.

the last time my bike was washed was some time in mid to late October and the only reason it was washed is because I rode back to central PA and met up with my dad to go riding and he was so disgusted that he tricked me into taking off the saddlebags so he could wash it. anyone who was at the NorEast should remember what it looked like.

The last time I personally washed it was probably some time in late August or early September.

Mark just because you dig ditches for a living doesn't mean that your bike has to look like it was dragged from one . My baby is kept in pristine condition. It feels good when you see people gathered round admiring it when your supping your coca cola at the local pub

Back to biking fanatic. Current model BA02 & Suzuki GSX R600 Alstare Corona Extra . UK based.Mechanically improving and loves to play (with bikes as well)

The Phantom is filthy since last weekend's 600 mile ride to Butler's Orchard and back.
I like to keep it clean, dry & serviceable, but as long as it ain't wet, I'm not washing it until we return from Triumph Come home.

Unfortunately, right now I'm with Mark - I've washed my bike one time this year. there are still bugs from GA07 on the headlight and forks. I'll wash it soon though, I figure some time around, ohh say, september.

Mark me down as Mr. Compulsive then. I probably do no more than 10 rides before I just HAVE to wash and polish the thing. If I get so much as a sprinkling of dirt on the chrome, I can't relax until I've overdosed on the "Mother's Chrome Polish." I even carry a microfiber soft cloth in my saddlebags so that I can wipe off dirt whenever I park!

I suspect what really underlies this obsession is nothing more than my rampant Ego. I just LOVE the way folks "ooh" and "aah" at my shiny, chromed beauty, especially when it's next to a few Harleys that, somehow, fail to have the same attraction ("Oh, not another Harley.")

It rained 10 minutes ago. The sun is now out. By the time I leave the building, I just know that there will be rainspots all over the bike, and I will be irritated. Rest assured that before I ride it tomorrow, it will be back to its impressive, stylish awesomosity, ready to dazzle and enchant the envious hordes.

Siggy

If life wasn't so pointless and absurd, I would take it more seriously.

I have the affliction and it is raining every couple of days here(weird!) I really hate that crud you pick up driving in drizzle in traffic.

Siggy,

I'm with you, when I got home from GA. I parked it in the garage and did not even look at it for a week.

You should have seen our bikes the night before we left beautiful, no sooner than when Rob hit the gargae door opener the next morning it started raining.

I finally got it back to pre-GA. condition the d*** thing just seems to mope when I walk by and its not pristine.

I have all the "mother" stuff but I seem to like the smell of turtle liquid wax myself.

Same here BP. I hardly looked at my bike after Ga. until the numbness in my butt wore off.

mine gets the wash and dry at least once a week, but on average once a month they get washed with dawn dish washing liquid( strips the wax) polished, buffed and then waxed. the chromes gets a good cleaning the wheels get taken off the bike and every part of them are cleaned. But I have ot keep them looking nice since we keep them inthe show room of the shop.. That and it gives my detail kid something to do when he looks a little bored.

(and at The Half...here's the score so far.....

Anal Retentives-9
Piggys-4

(the official scorekeeper here has to admit he's in the first group...but of course his bike seldom sees the rain and salt and grime here in sunny California and Arizona, so it's pretty darn easy to keep his bike clean)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I try not to ride inthe rain but from March to November here you can count on a thunder storm in the afternoon some time between 2 and 6... head out on a nice sunny day stop for gas and the sky is black.

Put me in with the Piggy Group.
Bikes are for riding.
I wipe mine down with the cleaner/polish stuff in a can from Honda.
On rare occasion I offer my daughter money to clean the spokes....
