AI removal, open mufflers,take-your-pick airbox mods,rejet,semi-metallic brake pads,904 bore kit, flatslide carbs,... how much money did you say you had?

Any and all will do.

Congratulations Malc I am sure you will find this an extremely satisfying bike to own as many of us have. As far as mods go you will find all you need to know right here but essentially you have one fine motorcycle straight off the floor. Look forward to your future impressions.

You do need to get rid of the AI. You can buy removal kits and do it yourself. I had my dealer install my Specialty Spares pipes, remove the AI, and re-jet all when I got the bike. I later removed the snorkel and replaced the stock filter with a UNI (5 min. deal).

How far you want to go is up to you. I spent a ton on chrome, windshield, bags, and other goodies. No matter what you do, you'll have fun doing it.

As above, then lower rear springs, ditch the pumpkins for somethings cooler, single seat and lose the passenger pegs. Park it next to a Harley and get ready for the compliments. When your finished there.... ride baby ride .Great choice

...yes, that is a single seat...no, I will not put the other seat on...yes, I am selfish...yes, you should buy your own bike

Congrats...I got a new 2006 SM and was specific with the dealer. Told them I wanted the AI removed, replace stock air filter with a K&N, and install long TORs. Then, do a rejet considering the difference in the dealers sea level elevation, and mine home elevation of 1652 feet ASL. Also, since most of my riding is in the city, I had them replace the 18 Tooth counter sprocket with a OEM 17 Tooth. Prior to shipping, I asked them to really check everything over for me. The bike arrive two days after it left the dealership, and it really flys. My dealership did such an awesome prep and rejet...I have no need to remove snorkle, or do any other performance mods, and the 17 tooth sprocket allows for quicker take-offs, and it runs just fine on the highway. I'm up to 70 mph in 3rd gear, and the bike only has 350 miles on it. Runs like a top. You're gonna have a ball with your bike. Just be careful of slow speed maneouvering...DON'T USE YOUR FRONT BRAKE WITH HANDLEBARS TURNED...I almost dumped mine on second day.

Congrats! Goodies should add comfort too. Get some Kuryakyn iso grips and some iso duelly foot pegs. But then again, maybe you're a young wippersnapper and don't need those amenities.

AI=air injectors/injection. Something to do with saving the planet and blueing your pipes, I think. Leave it on or take it off-it's up to you. (Plenty of info on here about what it is, what it does and how to junk it-just do a search.)

GET SOME AFTERMARKET PIPES!!! They sound horrible stock.

Others will tell you to remove this, fit that, move the other...I say, just ride the bloody thing!!!

How many miles on the clock? Where are ya based?

And welcome to the asylum.

Here is a kit you can get to remove the air injection http://www.newspeedmaster.com/html/ai_removal_kit.html

As far as the seat, sissy bar & rack goes (but I am not in the U.K), If you want the Triumph stuff, then either eBay or dealer is going to be your best bet. Their are a couple aftermarket bits around (Brent at http://www.newspeedmaster.com is our main pusher and great to deal with).

You may also want to keep your eyes on the classified section and the vendors section.

Bugger.... if you really are 30 I'm not the youngest Brit on here anymore...

Oh well it had to come to an end at some point.

Get the AI off and then come down to the Ace on it on 10th June, and ask those of us there face to face about the mods... hear pipes in real life before changing, stuff like that. You may see something that you like that in a parts catalogue looks pants.
Chesterfield...I know a little bit about there....I'm a Derbyshire lass really. Just live down here cos the money is good in my job. That and it's just far enough away from my mother....

I'll be up there at the end of the week...I'll expect to be able to see the grin from 50 miles away!!!

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

Get Sceptres, you cant beat the sound and you will notice a increase in go with the new jets and AI undone. The just add as you see fit, too much to do and have fun with.
