It is possible to go in from the header end with a piece of round stock and knock everything out and still save the reducer. I did 1 set that way. Very difficult and a huge PITA but it can be done and still no exterior damage. Be sure to rest the end of the pipe on a block of soft wood so you don't damage the exterior.
