The Triumph Engine Guard is still two separate bars, just held on with a few bolts and tangs.

I went down on a 800 pound Harley about 40 years ago, doing about 50-60 mph--held on tight and slid to a stop. Ground off a lot of chrome and some metal, but never bent the bars or frame. The engine guard bar was made of one bent piece, and bolted across the front frame.
