Hi all
I am tempted to make my own custom seat. I am pretty sure I can do the upholstry side of things but Im not sure how it is attached to the frame. I like the idea of a lower smaller seat like the Corbin and other brands I have seen. When searching the net, most sites are from suppliers or makers.
Thankyou
Derek

Have you thought about stripping the upholstery off your stock seat, trimming the stock seat pan down then redoing the upholstery? I have. Then you get to keep your stock mounting points.

Sheesh FJ. Ive only had bike 2 months from the show room floor so I dare not touch the original seat. Plus I may need to put it back on if I am unsuccesful. Good idea though but just not with the original gunfighter that I have.

maybe put a WTB in the classifieds for a stock seat to play with. Then you don't need to mess with yours. As for what hold is down there is a little tongue on the front that goes under a mount on the frame and the rear bolt. Rear bolt is a tapered stud under your gunfighter that it snaps onto.

Its attached with a bolt at the rear of the seat and you pull the ring thingi that fits into a clip and it lifts off by lifting the rear of the seat. The front is held in by a lug on the front of the seat.

Sorry if I sounded stupid guys. I know how my gunfighter seat fits on, I just thought that the smaller ones were attached differently.
Thanks for the replies

The post your speedy locks into can be removed leaving a threaded hole beneath it. The solo seats use a bolt through a bracket at the rear of the seat.

Learning from my mistakes... again and again.

I was definitely referring to the solo (TBA) seat when I made my suggestion. I don't know enough about the speedy seat to know if that would work.

I didn't take it as a stupid question at all. If I never had one off I would ask rather than break something too. Then the rest is what nuthin said.

I bought a seat off ebay for my sm, 45 bucks plus shipping, ripped the foam off it then took a bit of time building my new one on the old seat pan. It was nice to be able to ride while I was working on it;)

Hey Goofslapper, is that the same seat in the photos you posted in this thread?

If so (well, regardless), do you have some better pictures of just the seat?

Interesting 3D modeling. That's something I was always interested in but never pursued.

3D modeling is awesome! Unless you learn on high end stuff you can NEVER afford, and then try to use the semi-free or cheap programs... Super frustrating.

I'm confused here,do you mean 3D on the computer or the sculpting Goof does? I must have missed something. I know a good way to learn to carve 3D is to carve soap bars. It's cheap and you can still use your mistakes! LOL

I am embarrassed, my site is really out of date, and hopefully soon I will have new one up. That said thank you all for your interest, very flattering to have someone even look at your work.

Here is a pic of a seat I just finished up for a softail thought I would share (without the bike:)

All depends on the seat and materials. This seat uses neoprene memory foam, some seriously thick leather, kangaroo lace, custom tooling and hand painting making it pricer then a basic leather seat. Feel free to get in touch with me if you’re interested ether threw PM or matt@goofslapper.com , put custom leather seat in the subject.
