I rode about an hour and a half today, and the bike is riding and idling very smoothly. I have no tach, but the idle sounds about what I would expect it to sound like at 1000 rpm. As I was coasting to a stop in first gear, with clutch engaged, the engine suddenly just shut down. When I stopped it started immediately. That was the only incidence of that today. Yesterday, I was out for about an hour and the same thing happened one time. I hate when things aren't running flawlessly. Any ideas what might be causing it and what I can do about it? Thanks.

Sounds like the idle is still little low.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

It could be. As soon as I find a dealer who has a tach in stock or one who does who will ship the ****** thing, I will be able to find out. BTW, I find it amazing that the word is censored.

Just adjust it up a hair. If that is your problem you won't need no dealer
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I'll try that the next time I fire her up. I just hate adjusting things when I don't know where I started and where I went.

Make sure your choke wasn't still partially on - that'll kill em on idle when they're warm.

Your symptoms sound a lot like the ones I am battling right now as well - you might want to check out my thread "Bike back from 12K service - now dies sporatically" for some ideas. Have you had any work done recently or made any other adjustments lately?

I put my new 07 Speedmaster back to the dealer after 3 days after cutting out completely on me. Turns out it was the ignition sensor that was faulty. A fuel problem shouldn't shut a bike down completely, ignition loss will.
