Biggest PITA in USA? Political correctness!
Can't refer to Native Americans as Indians,
Don't know anymore how to refer to one of African descent,
Those from out of country are Aliens, or are they?
As the ET's are taking over.
The Confederate flag is EVIL now, though thousands died
in the AMERICAN belief of the times.
My government may bite the big one right now, but it is
my government, good or bad. It's up to us to correct it.
We try, best we can. Nothing changes over nite and NO
government is perfect. Never has been, Never will be!
History shows us that.
My biggest fear?
A one World government!
Then ya can't leave what ya don't like!
I've fought on ground that I didn't feel I should be on but.... That was my job and duty at the time. No regrets!
I have no weapons at home as I slept in REALLY bad places
hugging some of the deadliest weapons on Earth
while serving and feel no need to have them here. Don't
even lock my doors at nite most of the time.
Pee in our face if you must, We'll be the FIRST to bale
you out. History shows that no matter how you wish
to distort that.
No offence intended just my 2 cents.
Bleep me if You want.

Sorry, I didn't mean to point at anyone person!
Just after reading all the posts in this thread
I couldn't keep my fingers still.
I mean, come on! No one is totally at blame for thier
governments actions or failures! Time cares for all
wounds. Good or bad. If a system is warped, it fails.
Sooner or later. Why use this board as a venting point?
There are way to many "point a finger" sites out there.
Should I be PO'd cause King George or whatever tried to
keep us as a colony? NO! I was not alive back then.
Should I hate the UK over that? Nope. Been to the UK
once and loved it! (Even though they threw me outta
this contraption called a barrage ballon from WW2)
We have way to many people over here that interpet our
constitution to mean that they can do anything that they
want cause it says so. Most true Americans will tell you
that being free means we can do what we want, SO LONG AS
IT DOES NOT INFRINGE UPON THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS! PERIOD.
This takes personal responsability into account.
Something that, sadly, I must admit, seems to have went
to the way side some where.
Again, if you felt I was singling you out, I do most sinserly apologize!!!

We tend to do that sorta stuff over here
Based on that one experience, I can see why you've only been here once then

You should come back, the worst that will happen is you get chucked out of a pub!

Well, I hit the reply button on your post for that one post
I guess that's why you thought I was pointing at you.
My mistake.
Actually the ballon ride was great! Earned my British Jump
Wings that way!!! Plus the history of riding the ballon
blew my young mind!!
Ummm.... did get chucked outta a few back then I think?
Was back in the early '80s don't know if they
still use those old ballons anymore.

hey privi you do have a right of self pride and i respect anyone for that
one thing i don't get about the yanks which i'm sure the brits among us don't get in britain or it's colonies is this seperation of race IE: afro american, hispanic american, asian american, ect
why? why have your people underlined you are all americans and be proud of what you are be it black white poor or rich yes we have racisim all countries in europe do but in general we do not put our people in little boxes
i have met a lot of yanks as we have a US base 120 kilometers from Gibraltar and i find them cool people be it black white or hispanic
so cut the crap stick together and stop your internal war we should all be proud to be what we are
phew I GOT TO STOP LISTENING TO THE VOICES

Melvin, don't lose sleep over it. That's one of those questions we probably will never figure out. People are very proud to be american, but they are also proud of their heritage, and unless you are native american, your heritage is somewhere else...

Melvin, all of these hypenated Americans have put themselves in the boxes. It may be a reaction to racist terminology, but it's often an overreaction, and gets to be ridiculous. As an example, several years ago a newscaster was commenting on some troubles somewhere in Africa and refered to the native people as African-American . He just didn't know what term to use to separate the historically indigenous people from those of European ancestry. Of course, the talking heads aren't the brightest bulbs on the string.

in a way i must agree but then there is always a but
thats what makes us chat in forums like these
we here in gibraltar come from different backrounds
i don't call myself british scotts gibraltarian because of where my grandad was born i'm a british gibraltarian
if we are all like that well i'm a caveman who was britanic anglo saxon with a bit of viking who's mum is hispanic and the list could carry on all the way to adam and eve or apes or as tom cruz would believe spacemen who knows
anyway wyoming highway peg law is a silly one and thats what this thread is about i think we are going of the beat and track
one thing talk about stupid laws spain has put a no smoking law in public 30 to 600 euros if anyone complains
consumtion of drugs is legal in spain
so if you snort a line of coke in public it's ok if you light up a cigarette you get a fine
don't bother me i do not use any of the stuff but talk about stupid laws
the moral of this one snort a line don't smoke it when in spain LOL

Wow, talk about double standards! Here you are having a go at Americans who classify themselves by their background, then you go & do the same! What exactly is a British Gibraltarian?

Nobby

(PS for what its worth, I'm English)

I'm English, Irish, Scottis, Welsh, German, French, Native American and of course, American. People here in NY always ask "what are you?" Expecting me to say Jewish, or Italian, or Irish or whatever. Cause lots of people in NY ARE mainly one ethnic background, but I'm not. You're right. This thread got way off track. Maybe you can keep than in mind next time you start a side track?

Who are you to tell me my nationality??

For your information, England is a geographically defined area with recognisable borders which makes it a country. As I was born in that country that makes me English. My pasport has ( for political reasons beyond my control) got European Community on it but that sure as heck don't make me european!

So if I didn't have a passport I could call myself English?

I doubt neither The Scots nor The Welsh call themselves British first!

Put it to bed mate - we're born in England, we call ourselves English.
Job done, everyone happy.

There's too much stirring going on on some of these threads and it just causes keyboard tempers to flare.
Civilised debate is one thing but s**t stirring for the sake of it is another.
