I did an order with the TRIUMPHeSTORE a few days ago. They discounted the OEM tach and the leather Triumph fork bag. They acknowledged my order on May 13th, but sent no tracking number. I called this morning to get a tracking number, and the dilbert on the other end of the phone said that "UPS sends you a tracking number." I explained to the idiot that if UPS sent tracking numbers for everything sent, they would be out of business in about a half a day. After he struggled about, and gave me over to the next idiot, they finally found my order after I read them my 20 digit order number - my name was apparently insufficient.

He said that they had the tach in stock, but would not send it until they received the bag from the manufacturer. I expressed disbelief that they would hold off sending an order of numerous items waiting for a GD bag. Well, they indicated, that's the way they do it.

It's fun to save money, but it is more fun to get the kind of customer service, caring, immediate replies to communications afforded by Fast Eddy. Unfortunately, he did not stock the items I needed.

After writing this note, the more I thought about it, the more disturbed I became with this vendor who has literally left my order sitting in limbo throughout the whole business week. I called up and cancelled it. I guess the easiest way to buy a tach is to ride up to the local dealer and just buy the damn thing!

I re-entered the motor cycle world in May of 06. I was surprised to find out how slow many mail order motorcycle vendors are in getting the job done. 4 to 6 weeks to get product is not unusual, in my limited experience.

I was watching a History of the railroads and the first trans continental rail line, and wondered, if you mailed a letter of order coast to coast back then, it might take two weeks to get there, and two weeks for the product to get back to you.

I ordered a vest from BritishMotorcycling.com on April 9. Still don't have the item, and only got a report after a number of emails to them. It is supposed to ship Monday. I admit I've been spoiled by the shipping service of folks like Newegg, and Dell back in the 90s, when they were trying hard to do a good job, but 5 to 6 weeks to buy product in this age is curious. If it's a Winter order and an extreme price break, (like the RAMP saga) I don't mind, but full retail is another story.

I am thoroughly convinced that, with a very few exceptions, customer service of all types is dead.

Moe's experience:

March 28 2007 placed an order via telephone for a chain kit and tbird cush drive. $271.02 = 189 Chain kit, 73.02 Tbird Cush Drive 9 shipping
Received it all in less than a week? Was given the discount for the cush too.

So these guys located 15 miles south from the city that host the oldest brewery, did me right. What can I say? When a vendor doesn't deliver call your cc company. Oh you weren't charged? Well call them anyway and have a note appended to your acct.

A vendor that has awkward service is one thing, a vendor that rips you off is quite another...

No someone else has held my order since January. I thought this was about Triumph part vendors in general. I thought all dealers had a Triumph Estore etc. and I didn't see any names mentioned. He was probably dealing with Brett.

What are you having a hard time posting responsibly? Try to not hijack threads will ya. Oh that and talking out of you rear end. The man was talking about your Buddy. One would think that you would be acutely aware of that. Now please put on your thinking cap.

denniskirk.com claims to ship same day. I don't know how true that is, or what their fine print reports.

I guess I would not have had an issue with them had I only ordered the tach - that is assuming that they make timely shipments of things that they have in stock. Everyone that I have ever dealt with mail order will ship those items in stock, and later ship those things that are on back order. I was hoping to be sporting a new tach on my Bonny by this weekend, but my order sat there through a complete business week without shipping the three items I ordered which were in stock. Not the way to do business.

Also, they seemingly could care less when I spoke with two different people there this morning. When I called back to cancel the order, they didn't even bother to ask me why. A store of empty suits.

Of course the local Triumph dealer here in St. Pete, FL is probably worse. They stock zero Triumph accessories, and have people on the floor that are pretty grim. I just called to see about getting a tach, and they don't even have one in stock. Although they display nothing, I had hoped somewhere in a back room they might have one. I hate not having a tach on a motorcycle, and I find it amazing that so many come without them.

You should take a ride down to the Ft. Myers dealer. newt has only good things to say about them and the two times I have been there, I have found them friendly and knowledgeable.

btw, one of our guys (sightglass - aka Peter) works there.

The guy I bought my Bonny from works at that dealership. It's just that it's about a 5 hour round trip for me.

Thanks for the welcome. I really love this site.
I figured there was some history, but for us new guys, I wondered if it was necessary to keep pushing the buttons. It kind of spoils an otherwise great experience.

Personally , I've done well in some instances and not as well in others. Kind of like life. I ask anyone here, is it that important to have a better story ,a better supplier , or the most rigid opinion? I am working on wearing life as loose garmet myself and I have yet to find where this nonsense fits in. Now , waiting 5 months for anything would be impossilble for me to handle , unless they told me going in that was the case and they would not charge me for the item until they called me and said it was enroute.
Seems lately there as been a few feathers gettin blown around here. Uhhhhhmmmm , if THEY really do exist! Then their the enemy, not us here doing this gig together.
There , that even feels unoffensive to anyone! Well , except them there THEY guys.......

I ordered over £700.00 of accessories from Jack Lilley UK, who informed me they did not have all of it in stock. They did post out the bits they had in stock and as bits arrived they posted them out as well. No extra charge for postage..

The only problem I had was with the floorboards, Jack Lilley said Triumph had them on back order and they also had customers waiting for them. After a week I telephoned them and they said the same thing still waiting, I telephoned Triumph (Hinckley) and moaned at the service, they were here within two days of that telephone conversation.

Overall I think Jack Lilley are pretty good and I still deal with them and will be ordering bits in the morning to finish off the upgrade to twin discs..

Thanks LBJ3000, I haven't thought of them in a while. I'll tell you the truth, I thought I was caught in the middle of domestic relations. sooo... I stepped out of the conversation for a while.

The Triumph dealer in St.Pete is primarily a Victory dealer.
They just got their Triumph franchise this year and moved into their new building about 6 months ago. The mechanic just finished Triumph classes, so don't expect too much from them. Try Hap's Cycles in Sarasota, they've been around a long time and are just over the bridge.

`

I guess they are primarily a Victory dealer. I went in to look at an America, and before my questions were answered, the alleged salesman asked me if I had every seen a Victory, and jockeyed me over to the Victory bikes. The parts guy revealed he didn't even ride motorcycles, there was not one accessory for sale, and I started getting the feeling that I didn't want anything to do with that dealership.

Another guy from the area who is looking for a 07 Bonny told me about the place in Sarasota. Apparently the Triumph wrench has been at it for a long time and even races Triumphs. I think I will try to get to them for any needed service.

The best triumph wrench there is Hap's son, Denny, but they also have other guys that are good. Denny is the racer.
I bought my America there in June '03. Another excellent mechanic in the area is Alley Cycle in New Port Richey.
I'm getting new tires installed there next week. They are a father and son team from California and ride Triumphs.

Cycle Alley looks good, thanks for the info. I just visited their website. I guess they are not official Triumph dealers, but it looks like a great place to have work done, and they are about 17 miles closer to me than the place in Sarasota.
