I am considering putting LED indicators (turn signals) on my 2003 speedy I read somewhere where the flasher unit needs to be replaced as well . Has anyone any experience with this?

I have. I used load compensator made for the job. Soren posted a page with different flasher units for the job. Either one will work. If I were to choose I would go with the flasher.

Check tech vault, under "Electrical". Also, Sandman I believe knows a lot about that. Check his posts (put that name in the "Search" at top of this page.
Also, welcome to this site!

You can either use The_Dog's suggestion and put a load balancer on the circuit, or Soren's and replace your flasher unit with one designed for LED's. The flasher's the easiest, cleanest way to go about it. You can pick them up from any half decent auto parts store. Make sure you get the right connector - I think the info's in the tech vault.
You might also find that your turn signals get changed into hazard signals (eg: both sides flash if you signal left or right). If so you can remove the turn signal bulb from the console as a short term measure, and add in a couple of diodes as a permanent fix. You can even change that globe to a (much brighter) LED with the diodes as well and be able to see it in daylight!
Let me know if you need assist with any of this.

Is there a thread about LED dash lights? I would like to do that so I can see what they are doing. I know green LED for grenn lens and red LED for red lens etc. But has the rest of the info for doing it been posted? I haven't come across it yet.

Don't replace the high beam indicator bulb-it is too bright at night. For the others from superbrightleds.com, Use WLED-6 bulbs for the Oil, Neutral, and Turn Indicators (choose each of the proper color). Put some dielectric grease on the terminals of the bulbs to prevent rust (ask me how I know). If you use LEDs for the actual turn signals, you might not be able to use the LED bulbs for the instrument panel turn indicator without some mods.

Check out the website in my sig. I made my own LED console lights, rather than buying them pre-made. That way you can tailor how bright (or not) you want them.
