Do not get involved in all those "dealer charges". The problem is, you make a deal for a price you agree on, then when the dealer goes to write it up he starts tacking on extra charges for "Freight", "Dealer Prep", "Documentation Fee" etc. and you end up paying a lot more than you anticipated.

Insted, when you make an offer, offer an "out the door" price. That way you will know exactly what you are going to end up paying. When the dealer comes back with his counter offer, make sure it is an "out the door" price.

You should never have to pay MSRP or heaven forbid more than MSRP with all the extra charges tacked on. For instance, when I bought my 05 Speedmaster, I believe MSRP was $7999.00. I offered the dealer $7250.00 "out the door" (note this did not include sales tax because I bought it out of my home state, if I was buying it in state I would have made a higher offer that did include sales tax). We finally agreed on $7500.00 "Out the Door".

If the dealer insists on MSRP just walk. There are plenty of dealers out there that are willing to deal to make a sale, all you have to do is keep looking (I live in Illinois and ended up buying my bike from a dealer in Wisconsin, only about 75 miles away but worth the trip).

Sincerely,
Vance
