Well I just got my Specialty Spares Long slashes, jet kit, AI Removal Kit and Uni filter today and I have a couple O' questions. Based of of the info in previous threads for these jobs I think I can install the slip ons and complete the AI removal, and I should be able to install the UNI filter . I just don't really wanna mess with the rejet business because I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm bringin the bike in for her first service in a couple of weeks and was wondering if I could have them install the jet kit and then do the rest myself when I get her home? What I mean is, will it hurt anything to rejet and ride her home with the stock pipes on? Or I could put the pipes on, do the AI and filter and ride for a couple weeks til I bring her in and then have them rejet. This could damage the engine tho', right? I want to do everthing right but I don't want to pay through the yang for the basic things I can handle myself. Any advice, input or pointers would be greatly appreciated. I can't wait to get these pipes on! Thanks

The pipes and filter will lean her out more than now (more air in and out without more gas). Having jets installed without the above mods will richen which would be better than lean.

The rejet is a very easy job but if you don't feel comfortable doing it then the better plan would be to let the dealer rejet then put the pipes on. You can remove the AI and install the uni filter without the rejet. You could install the pipes too but then you will run lean and I would advise against it to be on the safe side even though chances are you wouldn't hurt anything.
If you have the dealer install the jets and ride home with stock pipes you will be running a little rich and won't hurt anything.

What about putting on the pipes, do the AI removal, remove the snorkel, and put in the UNI filter. Then, trailer the bike to the dealer, give him the jets and have them set it up the best possible for your new set up. You won't need the trailer to ride it home. My dealer decided on slightly different jets than what came with the Specialty Spares. I let them do the whole process at the same time - all I did was remove the snorkel and put in the UNI. I had a lot more confidence in their tuning out the bike than myself. You would basically only be paying them for re-jetting and tuning the carbs.

I'd do the pipes and AI. Save the Uni filter for when the dealer does the rejet. That's literally a drop in you can do before riding her home. I'd say even if you also did the Uni before rejetting, you'd have to run the bike pretty darn hard to hurt anything. Stay away from redline shifts and you should be fine.

That's probably the easiest compromise. Do the AI, put on the pipes, and ride it to the dealer for tuning. Just take it easy. Before you leave it, pull the snorkel and drop in the UNI. Personally, I would want them to check the jets and carbs exactly the way it will be configured.

If you want them to check the jets make sure you schedule a dyno run.

Wow, thanks everyone for all of the input. I think I will put the pipes on and do the AI and take it nice and easy to the dealer so they can tune the whole setup and do a dyno run. Seems like the best approach with all things considered. I'll just have to keep a good eye on my RPM'S on my way over there I guess. Thanks again tho' everybody, won't be long now!
