I guess miscellanious is a good place for this post. Unfortunatly, my grandfather Wayne, past away recently but left me with his legacy to carry on. 9 motorcycles were left in my hands and although very flattering, it's also a little overwhelming.
Over the past 6 years I have been gone in the Air Force, and as grandpa's health deteriorated, so did the upkeep of his bikes. They were all pretty much in great working order before the neglect but now comes the time to try and reclaim them. I would hope to open this topic to anyone's advice on the matter and I'll be posting pictures as the project goes (if anyone is interested).
There are a couple real gem's in the bunch (no triumphs) such as the 1978 Kawasaki Z1-R, and Z1-R TC (first ever manufactured turbo bike, with 0 miles- brand new) and also the very first in Honda's CBR line, the 1000CC Hurricaine.
Anyways, I plan on pulling all spark plugs and pouring a little WD-40/oil into cylinders before i attempt to roll bikes, in case of rust internally. Some were left outside in a garage for several years.
I am aware of the obvious items like new tires, battery, removing internal gas tank rust, cleaning carbs. So any other info would be truelly helpful. Thanks guys.
