In the dozen years I rode a bike, the only incedent that nearly soiled my pants was when the front tire went immediately flat while I was going 65 mph on Route 29 somewhere on the outskirt of Roanoake, Virginia. But never a broken cable. How often does a cable break and what is a common cause?
