A couple things I learned last night.
Carry your cell phone you moron.
Even if you don't have cell coverage it will have the phone numbers of everyone. Since none of us remember them now.
Carry a prepaid phone card for use at a payphone.
Carry some cash.
And a flashlight would have been awesome.
