They used to do it "way back when" when gas was 10 cents a gallon. Really only works when the motor was running REALLY lean and left a lot of unburned fuel passing through the exhaust. Internal combustion vehicles that can actually burn the exhaust gasses like that are SERIOUSLY inefficient. If you can actually ignite your exhaust, you are really wasting a LOT of power.
