My wife and I just bought a home in the California Bay Area, and thus acquired a mortgage. We don't have children and we don't plan on it (please no chastise ), so it isn't unreasonable to bring home a "child" made of chrome, steel, and grease. Financially, we can do it without stretching.

My question to you:

How did you convince, beg, brainwash, or otherwise threaten your significant other to let you buy a motorcycle?

My wife insists that a motorcycle is too costly (which isn't so much the case) and too dangerous with "idiot" drivers out there (which is more the case). She loves me as much as I love her, but she has threatened 1) divorce, and 2) a beat-down.

How did you do it?

Thanks,
John
