Here's an '02 in your area and the guy's willing to deal. Pretty close to the same mileage.
'02 America$7K seems a little high to me.
The "book" value means nothing to some people and a lot to others. The Nada "book" has the bike at $5965 on the high end, where the Kelly Retail is about $100 less. Add another $300 when you halve the cost of the chrome apparent in the photo. I'd offer him $6500 out the door (less tax of course) and insist on a full year of warranty.
Show him you're ready to pay up front. If he laughs at you, deal with guy selling the '02. Looks like lots of neat stuff on the '02 and should be viewable from your location. I'm assuming you're somewhere in Murderland.
