I saw a drop of oil under the bike which I believe is chain oil, but saw a cover directly underneath the sprocket in which 2 bolts were loose. Does anyone know what is under this cover and how easy is it to replace the gasket.
I was also thinking about putting a high flow air filter in it, as well as bigger plug leads. Does this help at all?

The high flow element won't do any good unless you modify the airbox to allow air in. There are tons of threads on air box mods and replacement with the Freak. Less restrictive exhaust, rejetting the carbs, and removing the air injection. Removing the AI would be my first move it helps to slow the blueing of the header pipes.

That's the gearchange mechanism cover. You should be able to just re-torque the bolts to 9nm.

I'm not sure about the AI as it appears to have aftermarket exhaust on it. I have checked around and they look like Scepters. As far as modifying air box, I would't have a clue as to how to do that. My first impression when I checked it out was how the ****** does it breath at all. I've never seen such a seemingly restricted air intake in any bike/car that I've looked at.

alot of guys remove that snorkle you see on top and they drill the bottom too. Depending what year you have there may be 2 more snorkles inside the box to remove. One guy cut most of the air box away and fit the K&Ns like the Freak kit has. The AI is easily seem next to the spark plugs,if threre is a tube going in by each spark plug you still have it installed. If you see a bolt (plug) next to each spark plug it has already been removed.
Don't know what the previous owner did but with open exhaust you should rejet so you don't run lean same with improved airbox or removal of the airbox. If you allow more air in the engine you have to compensate with more fuel.

Okay. The carbs look like ones that the Harley Sportster uses. Are they the same? Having spent many hours tuning up the Sportster I had previously I know that if that's the case then those carbs are easily worked on.

same carbs. Not just sportster but many Hardleys as well as quite a few jap bikes too. These are definately easy to work on but remember Hardley had 1 and these bikes have 2 so the jets are smaller.

Cool. I like the way you call them Hardleys. From my experience, sure they are great bikes no doubt, but the things have to be running first. Really the only complaint I have about these Triumphs, is that the brakes aren't the best I've used and maybe the handling isn't the best. Comfort wise it's the best I've ridden.
