I agree with your concern. There was a time when all industrial, safety eyewear was glass - sure it was supposed to be shatter resistant (and perhaps was ?)and was the only means to make eye wear that was suitable for clear vision. But plastics have come a long, long way in the ability to supply optical grade clarity, impact resistance, scratch resistance and perhaps most important to the user - light weight. Just my opinion, but I'll no longer own or wear 'glass' glasses for any purpose.
