Yep, I sold the Bub's and got my new Staintune's this week. I haven't installed them yet because they are so beautiful I was thinking about mounting them on my living room wall. I no longer wonder why they cost so much, - because someone spent alot of time constructing these things.
I wonder how they sound? -BT

What made you decide to replace the Bubs? I always liked the look of the Bub megaphones. How was the quality?

Nuthin,
What prompted my decision to change was that my wife wanted me to buy a BMW because they're "quieter" and supposedly, "classier." I said, "no way," but I did order the Staintunes so as to tone the sound down a bit.
I did like the sound of the Bub's however, - and the chrome was good. But the finish on these Staintunes is other-worldly.

I have heard others comment on the quality of the staintunes. They are out of my price range, but I bet they are pretty great. Maybe someday....

sctba,
Yeah. Installed "the Freak," - used the 160 mains that came with it. Then, stock pilots (42), .020 shims, and three turns out. I also synchronize my factory Keihens with the English "Carbtune" device.

I finally installed the Staintune "Slashcuts." Definately toned down from the Bub's. Of course, I did my best to tone the Bub's down (packing material, & small end-pieces). But these Staintune strike a delicate balance between various government agencys & a really intriguing exhaust note.
I'd say the decibels range in the mid 90's.
