Here's something that I could NEVER figure out.
You're from Thailand.....You're Thai!
You're from Scotland.....You're a Scot!
You're from Finland......You're a Finn!
So why then are we even debating this "Limey/Brit/Jaffa" thing?!
You guys should be...."ENG"s!
RIGHT?!!!
Oh, and, regarding the "Yankie" term.....It WAS originally derogatory. The British, or should I say "Engs" Redcoats(soldiers) in the colonies would sing the popular "drinking song" about the colonists who wanted to break from the Crown, inferring that they were a bit daft.
I guess they turned out to be not as daft as they thought, huh?
Oh, and one other note:
As Greybeard alluded to, I wouldn't ever call a native Mississippian or a Texan...a YANKIE to his face. You'd probably end up getting the same response that Jaeger received when he called MacDonaldson, or whatever his name was, a BRIT, for God sake!
