With the risk of being unPC, I must point out a few economic realities.
1. Autos per capita is a measure of economic growth and wealth, ie, economically advancing nations drive more autos and abandon mass transit.
2. Only wealthy nations can afford the luxury of cleaning and maintaining the environment. Wealthy nations are the only societies that ever have. So, if Mexico is getting weathier that is a good sign for the environment.
I am all for clean air and water, but so far I',m not buying that man is causing global warming as our greenhouse gas emissions are miniscual compared to nature's. FYI, have you heard, the surface of Mars is heating up and it's poles are melting. Could it be that the scientist that suggest the Sun's activities have more to do with global warming that anything Man could do are right.
