Go for the footboards, leave the heel/toe shifter alone. Never heard anyone talk positive about the shifter arrangement. Just my 0.02

When I bought my America it already had the heel/toe shifter installed. At first I did not like it and it took some getting use to. That was about 10,000 miles ago and now it feels naturall. I do not have the floorboards so I cannot say how the two set up together works. I had my America a little or a year now and have been thinking about the floorboards but still haven't pulled the trigger on that expensive yet. Hope this helps you out.

Boards are great, they afford you some comfort in moving your feet around. MAKE SURE if you get them that you REMEMBER you have a kick stand that will be HIDDEN! Nuf said about that!

Mine has footboards. Second best comfort mod I made. First being the Corbin.

There may be a photo or two more in my photopost section.

Regards,

Tom

Just looked in tour photo section the bikes look mint. Does your America have a heel-toe shifter fitted?

Wendy has floor boards on hers. I put them on and moved the levers back because she is only 5'2" and they made the position much more comfy. I ride it now and then when I am working on it and It's a different feel. Not bad just different.

My dad has them, I don't. I don't like them - I feel bow-legged putting my leg down at a stop and finding the kickstand under it is a PITA. Just my $.02...

Haven't ridden one with both the boards and the H&T shifter, but have ridden bikes with them fitted separately.
I have boards on my 06. And love them. So comfy. Yeah when I first put them on, I had a real problem with the stand, but you get used to it after a while.

The H&T Shifter....hated it. It wasn't my bike (someone lent it me while I was waiting for the insurance to pay out after the crash) but if it was, I'd have taken it off. Maybe it's cos I have really tiny feet, but I was just using the front bit as a normal changer.

Heck, all you guys need to do if the stand is so problematic, is to look in the J&P Cycles Metric catalog and look at the Kuryakin kickstand extenders.

I've got the boards... took me about 3 attempts before I got used to finding the stand - now I can do it in my sleep. If you can't find your stand with boards, you're not riding often enough.

Either that or you are 5'2" like Wendy and simply don't have long enough legs to reach around the board and catch that little pin on the lickstand.

I ride barefoot, and let my toenails grow, so reaching the kickstand is no problem

How about some of those mid-sized pegs like the ones made by Kuryakn?
I'm not sure if I need running boards on a Speedmaster.
