But, on the other hand, the 650 Yama Davidson produces less power than their late 70's 400 vertical twin. And there just aren't many decent 350 - 500 "starter" or comuter bikes available anymore.
When I first started riding, there were a number of motorized bicycles and conversion kits for rich kids to get started on. For the rest of us who had to work and eventualy buy our bikes with what we earned, the market was full of used 275, 350 and 500 CC bikes. Some were castoffs from older rich kids, some were comuter bikes replaced by cars when the owner got a raise and some (a lot) were worn out dispatch or really old comuters. I was really lucky and got a nearly new one from a weekend warrior who couldn't get the hang of starting it.
