I thought I would finish this one off....
After having a look at the manual, the missing part was the pin forward of the M10 bolt (all on the brake side). According to local dealer (who incidentally went waaay out of the way to help) the size is M5x14. Turns out for me the hole had been damaged by movement of the foot board after the pin was loose. In the end I had to drill out the hole and retap to an M6.
